PER DIEM HOSPITAL OPERATOR - PREFERENCE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH SIX (6) MONTHS OPERATOR/SWITCHBOARD AND/OR CUSTOMER SERVICE OR GUEST RELATIONS EXPERIENCE
Summary:
Answer and route incoming calls to the hospital's main number, emergency lines, and patient information lines. Demonstrate service excellence by providing accurate information regarding the Hospital, patients, and staff while ensuring adherence to Nuvance Health policies and procedures, especially those regarding privacy and confidentiality. Assist in maintaining up-to-date computerized databases and on-call schedules in a timely fashion. Exhibit strong customer service and telephone skills.
Responsibilities:
Answer main number and patient information calls in a timely fashion, exhibiting strong customer service skill resulting in service excellence for the caller.
Implement code protocols accurately, written in department Policy and Procedure Manual. Demonstrate clear understanding, knowledge, and proficiency in handling emergencies. Carry-out proper activation procedures using Vocera, a computerized phone and paging system for life safety codes that occur at any Nuvance Health location.
Monitor emergency devices and alarm systems and notify the appropriate personnel, when activated. Accurate and timely documentation utilizing appropriate log books/sheets and incident reports for emergency alarms.Maintain contact with Engineering and/or Security dept. Notify EVS and/or Engineering of telephone or TV issues and concerns in patient rooms.
Maintain up-to-date databases and on-call schedules to provide requested information accurately and efficiently.
Demonstrate a courteous and friendly manner while assisting callers adhering to Nuvance Health's policies regarding professionalism and respect. Maintain composure when faced with difficult or stressful situations.
Document and maintain code logs in Excel spreadsheets.
Participate in establishment and achievement of department goals.
Demonstrate willingness to assist co-workers and/or to accept additional assignments, as requested, to support the dept.'s efficiency.
Requirements:
HS Graduate or GED and 6 months switchboard, direct customer service, or guest services experience
Basic Excel, Outlook, Teams & Word as well as customer service skills
Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Portuguese, a plus
Location: Vassar Brothers Medical Center, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY
Work Type: Per Diem/As Needed; You will receive schedule one month in advance
Work Shift: Variable 4-8 hr. shifts, 6:30am-midnight, weekends & holidays

Salary Range:
$17-$19/hour - based off experience and internal equity
